Art and Design Students Interpret Future Travel
Travel is crucial for the future. New solutions are sure to be required to meet the demands of both consumers and the environment. Therefore we wanted to hold a contest that would focus on travel in the future, which we hope will inspire new approaches to future travel opportunities.
Arlanda Express announced the contest early last spring, inviting all students at Sweden's colleges of art and design to submit their interpretation of travel in the future.
The jury, consisting of Ewa Kumlin (Managing Director, Svensk Form), Anders Rydell (Editor-in-chief of the newspaper Konstnären, and Future and Innovation editor of Bon Magazine), Fredrik Norrman(County Administrative Board, Society for Nature Conservation and climate project/climate policy planner in Stockholm), and Per Thorstenson (President, Arlanda Express selected three finalists.
The finalist entries in the "Future Travel" art and design contest were on display for two months in the Arlanda Express Terminal at Stockholm Central Station and in the arrivals terminal at Arlanda Airport.
The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with our ten-year anniversary celebration in November. The winner was awarded SEK 25,000.
The three finalists were Future Mobility by Francisco Lindoro anda Philipp Divitschek who study Product and Industrial design at Umeå Institute of Design; The TravelMachine by Anna Barne, who studies Artistic Concept Development at Göteborgs Konstskola and Mobileville by Boel Allende, Emma Kruuse, and Sergio Montero Bravo, who study Interior Design at the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design.
And the winner is....
